Lunch at Bistro Ravioli, Mall of Asia
April 30, 2012 in Italian
Went to Bistro Ravioli at SM Mall of Asia for lunch. I’ve been a fan of this restaurant for quite some time now, they serve affordable pasta and pizza dishes that I really enjoy.
I was with my cousin Khalid and her girlfriend Naj, they can’t decide on where they’d eat lunch so I suggested Bistro Ravioli, since it’s just around the area. Like I said, I’m a big fan of the restaurant. Tried almost everything on the menu and even had my birthday celebration at the restaurant last year.
Again, sorry for the crappy wide shot. I said this before, but I have a short telephoto lens so physically moving away from the subject to zoom out can really be a
pain in the … and sometimes, it’s not really feasible (Small spaces)
The interiors are simple, nothing flashy and they also have this particular area in their kitchen where you can see the cooks making the dough for their pizza and pasta dishes (Yep, they make their own dough, it’s fresh)
We ordered their Grilled Foccacia with Spinach Dip for starters.
Their grilled foccacia with spinach dip was simple but is filled with yummy goodness, I’m not a fan of vegetables but I like this one. The flavor of the melted cheese subjugate the spinach to the point that you’ll forget that what you’re eating has veggies in it. It’s really a nice way to trick the kids or someone like yours truly that would normally pass on a dish that has veggies in it.
For the choice of pasta dish, we got their Italian Sausage Ravioli in Romesco Sauce. Yep! we’re shameless meat lovers!
Their Italian Sausage Ravioli in Romesco Sauce was really filling! It may seem that the serving’s not that big, but trust me, this will fill you up in no time! Each ravioli is packed with Italian sausage and cheese. The romesco sauce added this nutty flavor, I often had this sauce with seafood dishes, but I think it really worked just as well with this Italian sausage ravioli.
For my sweet ending, I got their Tiramisu
Their Tiramisu was okay, with it’s bittersweet flavor from the coffee and the cream, and the chocolate shavings at the top and for garnish and plating was a nice touch. It wasn’t really rave worthy, I tasted better, but hey it’s inexpensive. At least you get to indulge on a decent dessert for that after meal sweet cravings
VERDICT: Bistro Ravioli offers affordable pasta and pizza dishes that’s quite flattering. If you plan to dine with a large group on a considerably low budget, then I recommend this place to you. Do try the family serving of their pasta and their 12 inch thin crust pizza.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Great value for money, menu items are really affordable with generous servings so it’s really good.
