Kroketten: Dutch Potato Snack Given a Filipino Twist
July 21, 2012 in Food Stalls
If you’re a big fan of potato snacks then you should check out Kroketten! A popular dutch potato snack given a Filipino twist.
They recently opened a store at Mall of Asia, and I tried their much loved potato snacks
They have a fairly small food stall; I suggest you get one, to-go or you can also eat it there since they have a few tables. Was more than excited to try their dutch potato snacks that’s been given a Filipino twist. Tried their Kroket and Mini-ballen.
They have numerous flavors (cheese, bacon, longganisa, chicken, hotdog, pork adobo, beef, mango, and adobo flakes) for the potato snacks and nice dips and sauces to go with it (garlic mayo, honey mustard, pesto mayo, tartar, orange mayo, wasabi mayo).
Got their cheese kroket and it was nice. It had a nice crisp on the outer layer then you’ll hit the center with the awesome cheese flavored goodness. It’s more like a mashed potato with a crunchy outer layer. I had fun munching on it and it’s definitely a filling snack.
Their mini-ballen‘s the miniature bite-size version of their normal kroket. Got their bacon variant and I loved it. I actually prefer the mini-ballen because it has more of the crunchy outer layer that I really like. It’s still a filling snack and I’d recommend it to all potato snack lovers
They also have combo meals; choice of any kroket variant and a 16 / 12 oz. drink. They have their own line of drinks that’s called the Vers En Snel available in Mango-Guyabano and Strawberry-Passion Fruit. They claim it to be an all natural fruit drink that’s sugar free and it’s definitely refreshing.
VERDICT: Kroketten’s given a nice filipino twist to the popular dutch potato snack. The kroket and mini-ballen were nice and enjoyable and I’d love to try the other flavors as well. Though I really like the mini-ballen better since it had more of the crunchy outer layer that’s really nice.
VALUE FOR MONEY: Good value for money at a very reasonable price of P35~P75 you’ll get to munch on a nice potato snack that’s quite filling.
