Hefty Foodie’s Quick Bites and Random Cravings: Double Chocolate Yema Cupcake of SLICE
July 16, 2012 in dessert, pastry, quick bites
Okay I’m starting this series of posts that’s not like my normal restaurant review blog entries. It’s really about some random cravings that I munch on or quick bites / snacks that I really like. And I can practice my food photography skills too since most often than not I’ll shoot the food at home and have total control of lighting and whatnots.
First on my Quick Bites and Random Cravings Series; Double Chocolate Yema Cupcake from SLICE!
I already did a post about SLICE at Bonifacio High Street before and I really enjoyed their awesome and moist double chocolate yema cake. I was at BHS Central earlier for this big lunch at Nolita (will post it later
) And I’ve had this sudden urge to munch on their double chocolate yema treat. A sweet tooth craving that’s really hard to ignore. I didn’t want to munch on a big slice of chocolate cake so I got the cupcake version instead
Though it’s a fairly small cupcake, this one packs a punch with its moist and chocolate-y goodness and swirls of yema on top!
My first few bites was of the yema topping and I got a little bit nostalgic; when I was a kid (up until now) I really liked those triangle shaped yema treats. Like a child, I was licking my fork enjoying the sticky caramel-like goodness. Then I got a fork-full of the cupcake its base was of strong chocolate-y flavor then you hit the yema topping that’s gooey and sweet, it was pure bliss.
Their Double Chocolate Yema Cupcake was really nice and help me appease my sweet tooth cravings. A simple and yummy chocolate treat that you shouldn’t miss

Nice detail on the shots! I can see how intricate the swirls are! And we have to try this based on your raving recommendation
Hello Ray Thanks! I do love the photos on your blog.
Do try their Chocolate Stirrer and Double Chocolate Yema Cake. Block of chocolate melted on hot milk FTW!
Here’s my other post: http://heftyfoodie.wockynest.com/slice-bonifacio-high-street/
As long as they’re food and they’ve got prices, they’ll be good enough for me
But where is the dampa post
Hahaha thanks Arvin. The Dampa post is pending, I’ve got LOTS of backlogs
I’m curious on how they do the yema swirls, but it looks delicious!
As usual, I love your pics. Nice details and colors. I super love yema and chocolate. Yet combining them? Must be heaven!!
