Diners Den at Tomas Morato

May 9, 2012 in Asian, fusion

Tried Diners Den at Tomas Morato! They serve affordable Asian dishes for your tummy’s pleasure. :D

This is not a pasta dish! ;)

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to take wide shots of the place (telephoto lens dilemma) sorry! :( The place was simple and cozy tho.

To start things up we tried their Mango Crab Salad

Mango Crab Salad (P135)

I must say their Mango Crab Salad is more on the sweet side, the crab sticks helped balance it a bit. I’m not really a fan of salads and anything green and leafy (I usually top it up with LOTS of dressing and let it overpower the taste of the veggies:D) but it’s quite good.

Pad Thai (P150)

The most famous of all Thai fried noodles, loved by everyone for its sweet, sour, spicy and nutty taste. Dressed with fresh shrimps.

It’s the usual Pad Thai that most of us love, topped with shrimps. The bean sprouts help develop a tinge of crisp for nice contrast, and it’s good for sharing.

Pesto Prawn Pasta - PPP (P195)

Pesto Prawn Pasta - PPP (P195)

Only another “P” can describe this pasta dish Perfect! Fresh prawns sauteed in pesto and garlic lie on top of a bed of spaghetti.

I really liked their Pesto Prawn Pasta! It was herb-y and garlicky and the pasta was cooked just right.

Hainanese Chicken Rice (P150)

Steamed chicken served with rice cooked in chicken stock. Singapore’s favorite, a must try!

I’m a big fan of Chicken Rice, I like the idea of cooking the rice with chicken stock, infusing the flavors and with the various sauces for the rather bland chicken it’s just wonderful. They serve it with a soup, that complimented the dish well, more chicken flavor goodness!

Fried Dory with Binagoongan Rice (P195)

Fresh Dory deep-fried to perfection and served with fish paste flavored rice and fresh mango salsa on the side

Dory + Binagoongan Rice = AWESOME! I love how the dory was lightly seasoned and is a good match for the rice. The mango salsa was a good side for this salty dish.

Hong Kong Cheese Pork Chop (P150)

A Hongkong secret revealed. Thick slices of pork chop fried to perfection and topped with a red and white sauce and covered in a layer of melted cheese.

Definitely a must-try! Their Hong Kong Cheese Pork Chop was good! And do remember to munch on it while it’s hot :D

Hong Kong Cheese Pork Chop (P150)

The kids will love this! (or kids at heart:D) The combination of the sauces make for this creamy concoction for the pork chop and the rice that was just wonderful, and that melted cheese! *drools*

And for desserts we tried their Marshmallow Chocolate Cake and Mudpie

Marshmallow Chocolate Cake (P105)

Marshmallow icing coated cake with chocolate cream and chocolate bits for filling! The combination of the chocolate and marshmallow was just nice, loved it!

Mud Pie (P135)

This is a definite crowd pleaser. A frozen dessert mad with ice cream on a crushed Oreo base and drizzled with a rich and fudgy chocolate sauce.

One thing’s for sure: their mud pie pleased our crowd! I think almost everyone raved on how good was it. Besides who doesn’t love Oreo and ice cream!? Again, this one’s a must-try!

VERDICT: Diners Den offers a wide variety of Asian dishes at an affordable price, it’s a nice place to dine in with large groups, and some of the menu items are good for sharing so that’s a plus.

VALUE FOR MONEY: Good value for money, good food at an affordable price ;)
